Boundaries keep the elements out creating a protective barrier from the sea and sky. I am witness to the changing effects the seasons bring to the woven boundary of trees and hedgerow in my garden. Changing light, wind, rain and even a little sunshine cut through my perspective and I try to mark down that energy around me.
Because of my training as a sculptor and experience working in both clay and metal it seems natural to me to use the textures created with a pallet knife to mark down the colour, movement, and form of the landscape. I am fortunate to live in a place where the daily drama of the weather plays out in all its moods outside my window in my wilderness of a garden.
