Jay Murphy: Aspects

6th -29th April

Brian Bourke and Jay Murphy

Although these are two solo exhibitions, there is an overlapping of subject matter. Both artists travel and work in the same landscape as well as working on separate subjects. In this case, there are paintings by both artists following a residency in the Cowhouse Studios, Wexford in May 2016. The subject is the same, but seen from different angles.

Brian Bourke is also exhibiting local landscapes close to the studio in Galway and paintings made from work done in Aspach, near Stuttgart in Germany. Apple trees and orchards feature in both landscapes.

Jay Murphy has a series of paintings from Agadir, Morocco, depicting the local Muslims enjoying the beach, in tents made of brightly coloured tie-dyed cloths pinned to parasols - in contrast to the images we see of them as refugees in makeshift shelters.

She will also include a series of paintings of bridges along the canal linking the Erne to the Shannon.
