Catherine Fanning is a Sligo based artist. Her art practice is in the areas of painting, printing, mixed media and arts participation.
The natural world is a dominant source of inspiration in Catherine’s work. Her creative process develops through experimenting with collage, print and drawing with a range of materials. Art journaling has become an integral part of her creative process.
Catherine collects vegetation, such as seed pods, wildflowers, grasses and leaves. These finds, with their delicate forms, intricate patterns, and natural and vibrant tones, decorate her studio space. They become a reference for her work, multi-layered abstract paintings.
